This is a book club for those of us that just want to chill out, read, and discuss books. The knitting is optional.

We'll be starting with Good Omens and going from there. Section pages/ending sentences are posted every Mondays, and chat announcements are posted every Sundays!
Need more info on who we are and what we're doing? Check the links below!

Chat is up!

goodomensbookdiscussionclub:

To join chat, please hop on Skype and send a message to nikkernoodle to let me know that you’re part of the book club and want in on chat.

I’ll leave the chat up throughout the day as long as I can.

We’ll start this chat with being text only. If we want to change to audio later, we totally can, but we’re going to start this with text.

General rules apply: be respectful, be courteous of others opinions, please don’t discuss farther in the book than we’ve read. Differing opinions are, perhaps, inevitable, but if you are mean about it I’ll boot you, and you won’t get let back in until next chat.

I’ll reblog this every four or so hours, just for this first one, to make sure that everyone gets in on it.

reblogging for later crew!

I love this chat.

Mostly because it started out with philosophical and serious discussion about Free Will and Demons and Angels…

…and now it’s about Crowley tying cherry stems into knots with his tongue.

Ilu guys. Never change.

Okay, so, a couple questions/comments/the like.

I meant to get this up yesterday, but uuuuugh life. So yes.

First order of business: Chat time. Naturally, since we’re on the internet and there are a bunch of us from all over, timing is a problem. Going on Saturday was suggested, but unfortunately Saturdays don’t work overly well for me. Then again, I don’t specifically have to be the one to start the chat. I was hoping to just open up the chat and leave it open for whoever wants to join throughout the day, and people can come and go as they please. So originally I was going to open it at Noon on Sunday, PST. I can open it earlier, at say around 8am or 9am PST instead, to give more time. Or someone else could open it a little earlier to give even more time. Thoughts?

Second order of business: Chat: text, audio or video? I honestly didn’t think about it before; I figured we’d just do text. But audio and video are both options. I’d prefer text or audiomyself, but what would everyone else prefer?

Also tumblr isn’t letting let people reply to this, so if ya’all can throw your answers in the ask box, I would appreciate it.

Week 1 (October 10th-16th): Reading Section

Hello! And welcome to Week 1 :)

As many of you know, we are going to start off by readingGood Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. Normally I would use pages/chapter numbers, however there are many different copies of Good Omens, and there are hardly any chapters, if you can call them that. So instead, I’ll blog the final sentence(s) that finish up the section that we’ll be reading for the week.

This week, naturally, we are going to start at the beginning (a very good place to start!) Our first reading section will close with the sentences:

“We like your version better, anyway.

He probably wins prizes for his tropical fish.”

General Rule Stuff (They’re sort of more like guidelines anyway)

1.) You are not excluded from chat just because you didn’t get a chance to finish up or even read the section this week. We know you have lives outside of tumblr. We understand. Anyone can come in to chat; just be aware that you might be spoiled.

2.) Play nice. Pretty self-explanatory. This is a pretty chill fandom so I’m not really worried, however, I will toss people out of chat if needed. You won’t be let back in until next week. And yes, it is perfectly alright if you don’t ship Aziraphale and Crowley. We’ll love you anyway. Or at least I will. *eyebrow waggle* Also watch the language; it might make some people uncomfortable. I only put this in because I can have a pretty foul mouth and I’m going to have to tamper it down.

3.) Keep it spoiler free! Remember where we’re up to right now in the book. Please don’t discuss things that have not happened yet, because maybe, just maybe, there might be someone that hasn’t read it before.

4.) If you have a question, concern, or can’t get a hold of the book we’re reading, talk to me. I don’t bite, I swear, except Sundays and occasionally Thursdays. We will work something out. I promise you, we will find a way for you to read whatever it is we’re reading with us, or work out whatever issue you’re having.

5.) Have fun! Blog your favorite quotes and scenes, add your own commentary, do some actual knitting; whatever you wanna do. Most of us have blogs outside this one, and you might get someone else interested in an amazing book :)
